Bike theft is on the increase and insurance cover is becoming increasingly necessary, as your bike is not safe anywhere from the threat of theft. As long as your bike is covered under a policy that is right for you, you will have the added security that if it is stolen or damaged, you will be able to claim for the cost of replacement or repair.

With sponsored cycle rides, it is recommended that you follow a few safety tips to protect your bike.

Tips

• Lock your bike when out and about.
• It is recommended to use two locks of different bikes, such as a D-lock and Chain and wind them between wheels and railings.
• Minimise the risk of theft by wrapping an inner tube or painting the bike along the cross bar to hide branding.
• Get bike insurance to cover to protect yourself against the cost of repair or replacement.
