Info the broker will need

To provide a quote for your home contents, buildings or both, your broker will need to ask you a number of questions. Having the following information to hand will save you time:

• Property details - address/postcode, age of building, number of rooms/bedrooms, rebuilding cost, value of contents.
• Owner details - how long lived at the property and previous home claims history.
• Security of premises - alarms, window locks, neighbourhood watch scheme.
• What type of cover you want - buildings, contents, accidental damage
• What sort of excess would you be prepared to pay - i.e. the amount you would wish to pay towards a claim
• How long you have been with your current insurer - and how long since your last claim.
