Your broker will review the market to find an insurance policy that matches your needs. Once the broker has made a recommendation he will tell you a number of things about it, here are a few things you should know and, if you don't, ask...
- Who is the insurer?
- What is the quality of their service?
- What type of cover is it?
- i.e. comprehensive, third party
- What is the length of the policy?
- Be aware that some insurers sell 10-month policies to give the impression of a cheaper price.
- If I make a claim will I have to bear any amount of the cost myself?
- Do I have to contribute anything if I have a windscreen claim? If so, how much?
- Is my no claims bonus protected or guaranteed?
- Are there any exclusions or restrictions on this policy that may apply particularly to me or my family?
- Will I get a courtesy car following a claim?
- What happens if some of the information I provide to an insurance company turns out to be inaccurate?
- How do I complain if there is a problem with this insurance?
